Welcome back to 1000 objects, my Kondo-esque quest to rid myself of 1000 objects this year. The rules: had to own it before 2023, I have to try and tell its story and I must say thank you and goodbye as Ms. Kondo suggested (even though she has kind of given up).
These are one of my earliest pair of wireless headphones. The connection was pretty solid for early bluetooth and the sound was more than adequate. I hadn’t used them for a long time and when I pulled them out, the covers had peeled back to reveal the foam underneath.
It kind of broke the spell on the “luxury” sense of the item. The old yellowed foam reminded me of the seventies. Just regular old foam. I am honestly not sure what I was expecting, but this yellow dingy foam was not it. I still continued to use them at my desk until someone pointed out that I had little bits of black “something” on my shoulders. The continued disintegration of the ear cups left a mark.
It’s amazing that we have to get rid of things that could be easily replaced. I know that some brands have replacements, but I can’t imagine that anyone would stock a replacement part this old. Oh well. Off to the recycler with you, we spent a good decade together, goodbye!
