Welcome back to 1000 objects, my Kondo-esque quest to rid myself of 1000 objects this year. The rules: had to own it before 2023, I have to try and tell its story and I must say thank you and goodbye as Ms. Kondo suggested (even though she has kind of given up).
An included keyboard for a Lenovo all-in-one we are still using in the kitchen. It is like a 20” tablet and go to Google argument settling and recipe machine. I’m trying to think why we stopped using this pretty well built keyboard and put a Logitech keyboard.
Memory is strange. As I am typing, I remember what happened. The keyboard and mouse required a dongle. Directly connecting mouse/keyboard always had trouble with this computer unless you had a dongle. It wouldn’t wake up, it would be laggy, all kinds of bad experiences. But yes, I remember it all now.
The matching mouse packed it in. So we tried a parade of existing bluetooth mice with the ongoing problems. So we got a Logitech mouse and keyboard with that universal dongle thing they offer, because there are only 2 USB ports on the computer.
And the other USB port has a WiFi dongle because the built-in WiFi is so incredibly bad. And the hard drive was terrible, the slowest thing ever and it had not enough memory. So a year after we got it, I replaced all those things, SSD drive, more memory, USB WiFi and new keyboard/mouse combo. And it has run great for almost 10 years!
So I got my money’s worth out of the keyboard. Not even sure where its dongle is. Thanks for the first year keyboard. Your mouse buddy let you down and we never found a second home for you. I recently discovered Keychron, so there is no chance of ever going back. Good bye and farewell!
